Princess Superpower

I have been trying to find a way to help my little girl look for the good in others something that most people need help with from time to time, and well as I prayed for guidance on how to teach this principle here is what I was inspired to tell her.
"You know your middle name "Belle" do you know any princess with that name?"
"Yes, Belle from Beauty and the Beast"
"Why do you think she is called Belle (french for Beauty)"
"Because she is Pretty."
"Well all the princesses are Pretty, But Belle has a power to see other peoples beauty, She sees the beauty in the Beast, and as she treats him nice because she sees his beauty, he starts to be nicer and nicer, and finally everyone can see his beauty.
Sister, This name is kind of like a super power, for you to be able to see Beauty in others, just like Heavenly Father sees out beauty you can have he power to see peoples inside beauty, and EVERYONE has inside beauty, even the beast."
I think she liked the idea of having a special power to look for beauty, I am hopeful that this analogy and idea will help her see the good in others.
I know this was the Lords idea.
I  probably did not need to post about this, but felt a need to write this down. I hope we all can try to use this power, we may not all have the name Belle, but we are all children of God and can see people as he sees, if we try.  So go on and see the Beauty in others.

Emily, I love that idea! I love what happens to us as parents when we seek for inspiration from the Lord...isn't it incredible how the answers come?!

fEm, I love this post! I meant to comment on it earlier in the month. The trait of kindness and compassion is what makes royalty and commoner alike truly noble.

I, too have had to work on this with my children as well. A great book that goes along with this principle is 'The Little Princess' by Frances Hodgson Burnett. It's beautiful. There are parts of that book that made me weep openly as she displayed true charity and love for others...even when things weren't going so well for her.

Emily, that is such a good analogy! I teach the 4 year olds in Primary and it's an all girl class, so I may have to slip this into a future lesson, I hope you don't mind!
